I really enjoy sewing and I hope you do to! You don't need a sewing machine, in fact I don't use a sewing machine! I use a needle & thread.

The fabric was provided at Joann Fabrics, Cotton fabric is what you should use. It's soft and rough fabrics are bad for babies skin. Kids can have allergy to fabric dye or other properties in the fabric, so you should make sure you have all the materials necessary to make a safe & proper toy. Eczema is also a key factor. I suggest you put in at least a good 20 minutes of research, After all, it is for a living being.
Measurements: Mom- 1 yard or 1 1/2 yards Baby- 3 1/2 or 1 yard
I got the stuffing from Joann Fabrics too. I bought poly-fil, 12 ounces.
I used templates (shown below) From the sewing book (shown below).
Notes:
make sure you cut them according to the template (for the template printable more information on sewing templates & other sewing things please click on the button to access the tutorial videos. Tutorial videos is not out yet but will be soon)
sew the fabric cut outs from the inside out so that when you flip it right side out the seams aren't showing (If it's your first one, don't freaak out if the string is showing! Just try to find a color string that fits the fabric color!
Make sure you cut the doubles in two different directions so that when you sew them they match up! (more in tutorials coming soon)
Tips:
genetics! If the ones your making them a family think about genetics! like eye color, inside of ears, accessories (patches, bows & bow ties, etc.) Get creative!
Honestly, mistakes are okay! The mom I made has a bump on her head that happened randomly while I was stuffing it. But it doesn't matter because who ever your giving to will love it because you made it! I made mine by hand for 2 kids and they will love it even if it has mistakes!
make sure every thing stays on tight because little kids like to tug on things and they could choke on the eyes.
add your own little accent to it! And if you add patches you don't need to make a hole, just sew it on!
to test if things are on tight, have an adult, family member, or someone else to tug on it hard, and ask for their feed back!
